Feeding Chickens: Nutritional Needs and Recommended Diet

Chickens require a balanced diet to stay healthy and productive. Commercially available chicken feed usually provides a good balance of nutrients. However, chickens also benefit from kitchen scraps and free-ranging. Layer hens, in particular, require additional calcium for egg production, often supplied through oyster shells or eggshells. Grit is also essential for chickens as it helps them digest food. Always provide fresh water for your chickens.
